Lima Nova Model Railways

From 1989 Lima tried to enter a new range of models to the continental European markets under the brand of Lima Nova. In the same time, Lima Nova was a move away from the classic and successful concept of low budget model railways for beginners and the less ambitious railway modellers.

Lima Nova included all the models, which fulfilled the criteria of a contemporary model railway production. This included die-cast chassis', central can motors with cardanic drive shafts and fly wheels, NEM coupler pockets and short couplings, add-on parts and a absolutely true to scale construction. Additionally, Lima introduced a new NMRA code 83 track system.

Many internal problems of the following years which finally led to bancruptcy in 2004 might have their origin in Lima Nova. The brand name Lima was connected to simple and cheap models. Only few people were prepared to pay high prices for trans branded Lima. Furthermore, these these new and complex models needed a good supply of spare parts, something that Lima could never arrange.

My decision to separate the "classic" Lima models and Lima Nova on my website has some good advantage. We have here two different product ranges for collectors and the website will be clearer (but even bigger).
